The Competition Council has approved the merger of SIA “Valmiermuižas alus” and AS “Cēsu alus.” With this decision, a significant stage in the transaction process has been concluded, and the integration of “Valmiermuižas alus” into the “Cēsu alus” group of companies will be completed within the coming month.

The approval of the Competition Council confirms that deal is finalized and marks both companies’ shared commitment to preserve and develop Latvia’s beer brewing and enjoyment culture, strengthening local brewing traditions, and providing new growth opportunities both in Latvia and export markets.

SIA “Valmiermuižas alus” will continue to operate as an independent brewery, brewing beer in Valmiermuiža, maintaining its original recipes, and upholding consistently high quality standards in the brewing of beer and non-alcoholic beverages. The current owner of “Valmiermuižas alus,” Aigars Ruņģis, will ensure the transfer of experience and knowledge to preserve the brewery’s values.

Although the volume of beer produced in Latvia decreased by 7.5% in the first 10 months of 2025, “Valmiermuižas alus” ended the year with good results – the volume of beer produced and sold in 2025 grew by 2.5%, turnover increased by 5%, reaching 10.5 million euros, exports grew by 12% and non-alcoholic beer sales by 50%.
